Experience in the identification and classification of hazardous materials.
Experience in working with chemical or biological or radiological detection systems and decontamination techniques.
Experience in the use of personal protective equipment and operational procedures.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemistry or a biological science or a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in working with chemical or biological or radiological materials.
Experience in the identification and classification of hazardous materials.
Experience in working with chemical or biological or radiological detection systems and decontamination techniques.
Experience in the use of personal protective equipment and operational procedures.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of basic data collection techniques.
Knowledge of Defence R&D Canada research and training programs.
Knowledge of the transportation of dangerous goods regulations.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing and able to perform work that is physically demanding and repetitive in nature.
Must be willing and able to work for extended periods of time in protective suits and wear an air purifying respirator when required.
Must be willing and able to work with chemical warfare agents and other toxic materials.
Must be willing and able to work with laboratory animals.
Must be willing and able to successfully complete training in basic first aid and advanced emergency medical training.
May be required to work overtime on occasion and be on call at peak periods.
May be required to travel on occasion.
Must be willing and able to obtain a civilian driver's license and subsequently a DND driver's license.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Must be willing and able to obtain and retain a Level II (Secret) Security Clearance
Must undergo and pass a pre-employment medical assessment. This condition of employment is a continuing requirement for as long as you occupy this position. Periodically the Department may arrange future medical examinations.
