The purpose of this process is to create a inventory of candidates that will be used to to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard with employment tenures, language requirements, security requirements and work locations that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or a combination of education, training and experience in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Significant* experience in the application of the National Safety Code Standard 10 Cargo Securement.
• Significant* experience in driving heavy truck with trailer.
• Significant* experience with machinery such as wheel loaders and snow removal equipment.
• Significant*** experience in driving a forklift.

*Significant experience is based on the depth, breadth and complexity of the experience normally associated with performing these duties full-time for a minimum period of approximately one (1) year.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of heavy vehicle regulations.
• Knowledge of lifting signals

ABILITY:
• Ability to read and understand different crane lift charts.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• Training on regulation for the transport of dangerous goods (TDG).

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
• Experience as a mobile crane operator pick and carry mode.
• Significant* experience as operator of a hydraulic mobile crane of more than 25 tonnes.

*Significant experience is based on the depth, breadth and complexity of the experience normally associated with performing these duties full-time for a minimum period of approximately one (1) year.

ABILITY:
• Ability to set up a maintenance program for motorized equipment (vehicles, crane, loader, lift, etc.).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Valid Québec Class 1 valid driver's license.
• Willing and be able to do hard work in the field.
• Willing and be able to travel for periods of up to six weeks and travel by various modes of transportation including helicopter and ship.
• Medical examination required.
• Willing and able to work overtime (Evening and Weekend).
• Willing and able to climb and work on structures (towers) up to 40 meters high.
