The intent of this process is to staff one EL-05 position located at Natural Resources, Bell's Corner Complex, 1 Hannel Drive, Building 10, Ottawa ON. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the EL-05 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations

Education: Completion of a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electro-Mechanical Technology or Mechanical stream and completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or the employer-approved alternative. The employer-approved alternative is an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
• With operation and maintenance of advanced analog and digital test and measurement devices
• Testing, evaluating, monitoring and maintaining electronic equipment, apparatus and/or instrumentation, including documentation and presentation of the results
• With combustion engines, including diesel
• With overhead cranes, including safe lifting and handling procedures
• Advising and instructing staff on equipment/system use
• Making operational decisions to ensure the satisfactory operation of the equipment/ system
• Procuring laboratory components and related supplies for development, repair, and operation
• Participating in technical projects
• Experience in writing test procedures, including sketches, technical drawings, schematic diagrams, and standard operating procedures

Knowledge
• Of the techniques and practices of electronic circuitry
• Of the engine test cell: Engine components; pressure measuring devices and converting output to engineering units
• Of the theories and principles used in the analysis of different gases
• Of the operation and maintenance of gas analyses instrumentation in the laboratory and in the field
Abilities/Competencies
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and repair assorted sensors, bench and pilot scale equipment
• Plan, organize and carry out the development and assembly of required equipment and associated instrumentation to form part of a test facility
• Conduct field and laboratory work, often in difficult field situations
• Effective oral and written communication
• Ability to organize workload

• Experience in lifting/manoeuver heavy equipment with crane and/or forklift
Reliability Status security clearance
Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, CSA certified safety footwear, hearing protection, breathing apparatus
