Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is looking an individual to join our team. WD is routinely ranked as one of the Best Place to Work according to the Public Service Employee Survey, and we have been recognized as one of Alberta's Top 75 Employers in 2020. If you want to be part of a great organization that gets things done for Western Canadians, you want to work here.
Western Economic Diversification (WD) is looking for a Senior Business Officer to join our team. If you are motivated and interested in an exciting opportunity for growth in a dynamic department please apply. Specifically, the position supports WD’s delivery of the Canada Coal Transition Initiative (CCTI) to assist communities economically impacted by the phase-out of coal-fired electrical generation. Often these are rural/remote communities that have been dependent on coal as the backbone of their economies for many years. This is a challenging role, as you will assist communities as they seek new opportunities to diversify their economies in challenging circumstances. One aspect of this program will focus on the implementation of infrastructure projects that will encourage investment attraction and enhance existing businesses. This position will require a valid driver’s license and occasional travel (sometimes overnight) to rural/remote communities at all times of the year.
We are looking for people who think independently, work creatively and enjoy working in a team environment to support the priorities of the department. As a Senior Business Officer, you will be challenged to connect with people, build relationships, and develop creative approaches to addressing challenges or opportunities related to economic development in the West.
Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) works to develop and diversify the economy of Western Canada by delivering grants and contributions programs and advocating on behalf of the West.
WD is recognized as one of Alberta’s top employers because of its support for employees, innovative workplace and ability to make a difference in the lives of Western Canadians. In the annual public service employee survey, WD employees consistently rank the department as one of the best places to work in the federal government.
