Intent of the process

At this time, there are two (2) vacancies in Edmonton, Alberta.

Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Edmonton, Alberta.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM) for similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in political science, economics, sociology or statistics.*

*Notes:
1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
2. An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

• Significant*** experience in utilizing analytical techniques to conduct analysis.

• Extensive** experience delivering briefings and recommendations to senior management.

• Significant*** experience mentoring junior staff.

• Extensive** experience maintaining partnerships with one or more of the following: domestic or international stakeholders from other law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, government agency/departments, academic communities, or private sector.

• Significant*** experience in representing your organization in at least one of the following: to other departments, to other agencies, other levels of government or third party stakeholder organizations.

• Experience in leading multi-disciplinary Project Teams, or coordinating complex Intelligence Projects.

**”Extensive” is defined as the depth and breadth of professional experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of at least 3 years.
***“Significant” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of at least 1 year.

• Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in political science, economics, sociology or statistics.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance throughout their employment. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.
