Duties

Are you a digital communications specialist in web, social media or marketing communications?

Are you looking to put your skills to work at an organization that uses data to drive decision-making?

We are looking for creative, detail-oriented digital communications pro to join our Communications Division. We’re a small hands-on team whose work directly affects - Canadians. Come join our dynamic and hard-working organization to do things like:

• Develop web and social media content to advance transportation safety in Canada
• Curate TSB’s social media presence to keep followers engaged and educated
• Organize live-streaming coverage at media events
• Develop reports and creative data visualizations to communicate insights and trends
• Develop a deep understanding of how our stakeholders interact with the TSB online and get to know our audiences to the point where you can predict what they are looking for
• Work closely with our investigative modes (Air, Rail & Pipeline, Marine) as well as the web, publications and media relations teams to drive audiences to announcements and safety reports

Work environment

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is part of the core public service administration named in Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and is also subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). This being said the TSB is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB has a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.

The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members, including the Chair. The organization operates in a decentralized manner in 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of partially assessed candidates. Similar positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements and security requirements and location.

EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience writing and editing a variety of digital communications products such as social media content, web content, e-newsletters.

EX2: Significant* experience planning, developing, implementing and measuring digital communications strategies for involving multiple stakeholders.

EX3: Recent** experience planning, developing and implementing social media campaigns.

EX4: Recent** experience in curating and tailoring dynamic social media content to a variety of platforms.

EX5: Recent** experience using web tools to monitor and analyze digital communications activities (e.g. Hootsuite, Spout Social, TweetReach, Google Analytics, YouTube Analytics).

* Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of at least 3 years.

** Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the last 7 years.

AE1: Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in a field related to the position, such as communications, marketing, or journalism

AEX1: Experience in media relations

AEX2: Experience in stakeholder relations

AEX3: Recent** experience using digital marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp, Salesforce, Hubspot)

AEX4: Experience developing and implementing engagement and/or outreach initiatives

AEX5: Experience covering live events on social media through live posting and live streaming

AEX6: Experience writing scripts and coordinating video projects

AEX7: Experience designing digital graphics for web and/or social media

AEX8: Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software

** Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the last 7 years.
