Assessment accommodation

This position is specifically designated for personnel who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis and reside in the North (including Inuit Nunangat, North West Territories, Northern Ontario, Northern Québec, and Northern Manitoba).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

You will also be entitled to a northern isolated post allowance, (would vary depending on location) up to $33,686 annually plus vacation travel assistance.

With regards to the dispersal of the Community Engagement Coordinators, the objective is to have representation across the Arctic Region. The location of these positions and the coverage/responsibility area will be determined based on the applicants geographic location.

Applications are invited from across the North, including communities in and surrounding Nain, Inuvik, Iqaluit, Hudson Bay and James Bay areas. Candidates will be provided the opportunity to work from their home communities.

STEP 2 – SCREENING THE APPLICATIONS

Your resume will be reviewed to determine if you have the following experience and education.

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with organizations or communities, such as environmental, non-governmental organizations, and provincial/territorial or federal departments.

Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities.

Experience in organizing meetings or events.

The following may be beneficial to some of the positions being staffed:

Ability to communicate in a local Indigenous language.

STEP 3- INTERVIEWS

Based on your resume, you may be invited to an interview. During the interview we will be looking for you to demonstrate the following:

Knowledge of Indigenous culture, northern culture and the economy in the north.
Knowledge of regional Indigenous organizations and partnerships within northern communities.

Ability to work with communities to assess and communicate regional needs and priorities.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff various PM04 Community Engagement Coordinator positions within Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard in the North. These will be temporary positions until March 2021.

These positions are English Essential.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Canadian Coast Guard in the North or by other Federal Organizations that have vacancies to fill in the North.
