EDUCATION:
• Naval Architecture Technology diploma or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Naval Architecture or other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
• Recent* experience in docking ships or submarines.
• Recent* experience with stability requirements for ships or submarines.
• Experience in providing expertise and recommendations to managers, supervisors, work groups, committees or production employees.
• Experience producing technical drawings.
• Experience writing technical engineering reports.
• Experience in the use of MS Office products.
*Recent : three years within the previous ten years.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in the Marine Engineering environment.
• Experience with engineering software, such as: Paramarine, General Hydrostatics, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Microstation, Rhino, Polyworks, etc.
• Experience in the oversight and/or operations of Syncrolift shiplift and transfer system.
ASSET KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of ship design, structure and repair techniques.
ASSET ABILITIES:
• Ability to apply engineering principles to the support of ships and submarines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, handbooks and instructions.
• Ability to produce engineering drawings using CAD software.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Occasionally, this position requires candidates to work:
- overtime, evenings and on weekends at short notice
- at height, in confined spaces, or in high noise areas; and
- with limited supervision and support.
