Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one PC-02 position located at Natural Resources Canada in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the PC-02 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:
Significant* experience in relational database development and management such as Oracle.
Experience using programming languages such as C/C++, C#, PL/SQL and Python.
Experience defining, analysing and integrating data.
Experience working with geospatial data.
Experience preparing reports, technical documentation or system specifications.

*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.

Knowledges:
Knowledge of concepts and techniques of relational database development and management.
Knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
Knowledge of programming languages and application development.

Ability to develop relational databases and integrate data.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:
Experience in analyzing marine or physical science data.
Experience developing relational databases for scientific applications.

** OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE POSITION BEING STAFFED.
Willingness and able to do field work.
Medical clearance in accordance with Treasury Board Occupational Health Evaluation Standards for field work.
