As National Medical Advisor to the RCMP, the incumbent is responsible for providing occupational health expertise, advice, consultation, research and functional direction in support of the RCMP health programs, ensuring the Occupational Health and Safety Branch is successful in fulfilling its overall mandate with the development and maintenance of evidence based policies and best practices that support a fit and safe workforce.

Our team is located at 73 Leikin Drive in Ottawa, Ontario (Barrhaven), in a modern building with plenty of free parking, convenient access to bus routes immediately outside of the building, free use of a gym, a Tim Hortons and a cafeteria onsite.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC and an RCMP Secret security clearance

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Education:
EDU 1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized school of medicine.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
Cert. 1. Licensed to practice medicine in a Province or Territory of Canada
Cert. 2. Certification in a specialty relevant to the practice of occupational medicine recognized by a statutory licensing body in Canada.

Experience:
EX 1. Experience in clinical medicine, administration, and occupational health.
EX 2. Experience in providing strategic advice, recommendations and correspondence on occupational health-related issues to senior management.
EX 3. Experience in developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders on occupational health-related issues.
EX 4. Experience in developing medical directive to support delivery of health services.
EX 5. Experience working as a medical officer providing occupational health services

Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
