Positions are located at 73 Leikin Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.

Intent of the process

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment, if applicable, will be posted on www.jobs.gc.ca in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Notes:
1.The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are: ◦A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
◦An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a.Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b.Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

Degree equivalency

EX1- *Significant experience conducting law enforcement or security investigations.
EX2- Experience preparing detailed reports related to law enforcement or security (such as Crown Briefs, Information to Obtain Search Warrants, Affidavits, Expert Analysis Reports, Intelligence Reports, etc.).
EX3- *Significant experience working or liaising with law enforcement partners.
EX4- Previous policing experience.

* Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired with the execution of a diverse range of complex activities. This includes the extent, depth, complexity and diversity of tasks and cases and the degree of autonomy from those activities. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities relating to the experience.

AEX1- Experience working in a specialized investigative unit in law enforcement such as: Major or Serious Crime, Criminal Intelligence, Commercial Crime, Drug Enforcement, Organized Crime.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
