Intent of the process

The immediate need is to one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment, if applicable, will be posted on www.jobs.gc.ca in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment prior to May 21, 2020 (deeming date), the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Furthermore, CM staffing transactions resulting from this process will be administered in accordance with the Onboarding Transition Phase until deeming day.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

*Significant and **recent experience with a variety of firearms such as: rifles, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, military & police automatic firearms and commercial sporting firearms
Experience in researching and providing firearm technical information
Experience within the last two years writing evaluations, briefs or reports
Experience in leadership or supervision
Experience in providing training
Experience in reviewing and editing records in a database

* Significant: defined as the depth and breadth of experience acquired in the delivery of programs or services. Depth and breadth is defined as involving multiple issues, multiple partners/stakeholders and multiple impacts/risks

**Recent: Recent is defined as experience acquired within approximately the past 5 years

Knowledge of firearms and ammunition (may include but not limited to: firearm operating principles, firearm design principles, firearm operating cycles, the meaning/significance of firearm markings/proofs marks, firearm terminology, firearm component names, ammunition terminology and ammunition hand-loading procedures)
Knowledge of Part III of the Criminal Code and associated regulations
Knowledge of Firearms Reference Table (FRT)
Knowledge of methods of researching firearm technical information
