Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) permanent position in North Bay, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of the following valid certificates of qualification issued by the province of Ontario OR inter-provincial red seal certificate of qualification OR Technical Qualification Level (QL) 5 (minimum) in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF):
• Plumber
• G1 Gas Technician

Note: Candidates who do not currently possess a valid Province of Ontario Trade Certificate of Qualification or the inter-provincial Red Seal will be required to obtain their Red Seal certificate of qualification prior to appointment. EXPERIENCE:
*Recent experience in the plumbing and gas fitting field

Recent* is defined as experience gained within the last (5) years.

Possession of a Backflow Prevention Device certificate
Possession of certification in First Aid
Possession of certification in CPR
Possession of certification in WHMIS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing obtain a Backflow Prevention Device certificate within 2 years of initial appointment
Willing and able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver’s license

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

-Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial or territorial equivalent.
-Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used in a construction/maintenance environment according to safety regulations.
-Ability to work under the following conditions: may include but is not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
-Willingness and ability to travel.
-Work in confined spaces, climb stairs; work from ladders, scaffolding and elevated platforms.
-To be on a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in.
-Willingness to work overtime including weekends.
-Must maintain a valid trade's license or Red Seal certification or certification of qualification throughout their employment with the Department.
-Registration as a journeyperson candidate or certification as a journeyperson. This is mandatory for regulated trades.
