As a civilian employee, your role will be to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. The specific position locations in the Pacific Region are: Esquimalt, British Columbia; Nanoose Bay, British Columbia.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions within various units and locations with the Department of National Defence.

Occupational Certification:
- STCW Basic Safety Training or previously known as Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A1 & B2
Experience:
- Experience working in the marine industry as a deckhand or oiler, or an equivalent military naval occupation/trade.
Occupational Certification:
- Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO)
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
- Engine Room Rating.
- Bridge Watch Rating.
- Other marine certification (e.g. MEDS, ROC-M).
- Trades qualifications (i.e. welding, electrical).
Experience:
- Experience as an oiler or deckhand on tugboats.
- Experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of marine machinery or equipment.
- Experience performing maintenance, repair or fabrication work in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Experience operating, maintaining, or working aboard small vessels.

Conditions of employment:
- Maintenance of valid occupational certification.
- Valid Health Canada medical certification.
- Willing and able to utilize a computer and its applications.
- Willing and able to work overtime and on weekends.
- Willing and able to work away from home port for up to one week at a time.
- Willing and able to stand sea watches.
- Willing and able to wear uniform clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) if provided by the employer.
- Must meet standard for respiratory protection program or must maintain a valid fit test certification.
