Assessment accommodation

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and used to staff CS-02 data architecture positions within Employment and Social Development Canada in the National Capital Region with various linguistic profiles (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, English Essential, French Essential)

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which the manager has specified this alternative.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1- Recent* experience in developing conceptual OR logical OR physical data models.
EX2- Recent* experience in developing and implementing data models in one or more of the following areas: operational applications (transactional processing); Data Warehouse or Data Mart applications (analytical processing).

Definition of experience: Experience is defined as experience gained through employment, studies, volunteer work or an acceptable combination for a minimum period of one (1) year in the IM/IT field.

*Recent is defined as experience normally acquired within the last three (3) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
AED1- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following programs: computer engineering, computer science, information technology, information management, business technology management

Degree equivalency

EXERIENCE
AEX1- Measured* experience in data modeling.
AEX2- Experience in data profiling.
AEX3- Experience in conducting requirement gathering sessions, documenting data requirements and providing impact analyses for database solutions.
AEX4- Experience in developing technical specifications for data Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) routines as required to support requirements.
AEX5- Experience in performing analysis, troubleshooting and offering solutions to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processing errors and data inconsistencies.

*Measured - Following are the different criterions that will be used to measure the depth and breadth of experience:
• Years of experience developing data models.
• Size of Data Models.
• Generated Logical model from conceptual.
• Generated Physical model from logical.
• Generated DDL from Data Model.
• Designed models with super-types and sub-types.
