Duties

As a successful Project Manager you will be responsible for key duties and initiatives such as;

• exercising technical and financial authority for infrastructure projects ranging in value from $100,000 to $5,000,000;
• developing scopes of work and briefing documents for third party design consultants;
• reviewing the work of third party design consultants;
• producing high level cost estimates;
• preparing all the documentation required for contract tendering;
• preparing and maintaining funding documents and purchase requests;
• developing and maintaining project schedules and;
• providing ongoing communications to management and other project stakeholders regarding project progress, costs and timelines.

Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff two (2) indeterminate position in Comox, British Columbia. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
ED1: Graduation with a Degree or Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Engineering, or Applied Sciences.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX-1: Recent experience in the design, implementation or management of a project that demonstrates your expertise in one of the following construction/engineering disciplines: Civil or Mechanical and general understanding of at least two of the others (Architectural, Structural, Electrical). Experience should be specific to construction projects of buildings and transportation infrastructure in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
EX2: Experience with managing construction and consultant budgets as it relates to multi-discipline projects, including design and implementation.
EX3: Experience in specification writing and estimating quantities and costs.
EX4: Experience in the preparation of drawings and sketches.
EX5: Experience providing technical advice to a multi-disciplined design, project teams.
EX6: Experience using Microsoft Offices products such as Excel, Word and Outlook.

*Recent experience is defined as within the last five years.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of the principles of quality assurance and quality control.

MECHANICAL PM STREAM
K2: Knowledge of building HVAC systems, compressed air systems, fire sprinkler systems and POL storage tanks and piping.

CIVIL PM STREAM
K2: Knowledge of transportation infrastructure including storm and waste water management and material properties.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOC1: Certification as an Applied Science Technologist.
AOC2: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
AOC3: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

OR1: Willingness to work overtime, as required.
OR2: Willingness to travel and work at various sites and under various conditions, as required.

CoE1: Valid class “5” driver’s license without restriction issued by the Province of British Columbia.

CoE4: Willing and able to travel to remote locations (e.g. DND satellite sites) to perform duties.
