Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff two (2) CR-04 positions on an full-time indeterminate basis.

A qualified pool of candidates may be established and used to staff future indeterminate and / or temporary CR-04 positions within K Division Federal Policing North. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and / or considered: assignment, secondment or term appointment.

Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Edmonton, Alberta and within a 40 kilometer radius.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment, if applicable, will be posted on www.jobs.gc.ca in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment prior to May 21, 2020 (deeming date), the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Furthermore, CM staffing transactions resulting from this process will be administered in accordance with the Onboarding Transition Phase until deeming day.

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.

* Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

• Recent** experience working with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Access.

** Recent experience signifies within the last two years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience conducting basic routine vehicle checks and maintenance such as: topping up washer fluid, inspecting fluid levels (oil, brake, transmission, coolant etc.), checking tire pressure, replacing wiper blades etc.
• Experience providing administrative support services such as typing, photocopying and/or filing.
• Experience entering data into a database or spreadsheet.
• Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving and/or destroying data.
• Experience in providing services to internal and/or external clients.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, up to and including remote locations.
• Must be able to lift up to 23 kg.
• Work for significant periods of time outdoors, including in inclement weather.

Conditions of employment

• RCMP Reliability Status security clearance
• Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s licence*

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment.

*Candidates may be required to provide a copy of their driver’s abstract.
