Work environment

Intent of the process

This process will be used to fill indeterminate (permanent) or term (temporary) positions.

A pool of completely qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of National Defence in the Halifax region, whose duration, language proficiencies and security profiles could vary depending on the position being staffed.

EDUCATION
-A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
-Experience operating a skid steer loader to perform activities such as: snow removal, grounds maintenance landscaping, and brush clearing operations.
-Experience operating dump trucks and/or plow truck for grounds maintenance or construction operations.
-Experience performing grounds maintenance and brush clearing operations.
-Experience in performing maintenance on landscaping and snow clearing equipment, including but not limited to: hand tools, power tools, self-propelled vehicles.

-Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in the horticulture field.
-Successful completion of course(s) in ground maintenance.

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the maintenance of Airfield grounds.
- Experience in the horticulture field.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

-Possession of a valid and unrestricted provincial class 5 Driver's license
-Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driving permit.
-Willing and able to work overtime as required.
-Willing and be able to shift work as required.
-Willing and able to work in heights and physically demanding environments.
-Willing and able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
