The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Possession of a journeyperson certificate as a Welder from the Province of Ontario, or other acceptable interprovincial or territorial equivalencies, OR possession of a Military Materials Technician Qualification Level 5 certificate obtained before January 2008.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

EX1 – Minimum of cumulative 2 years work experience within the last 5 years in ALL of the following:
1) Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) on ferrous materials;
2) Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on ferrous materials; and
3) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on ferrous materials.

EX2 – Experience using, in a service shop or production shop setting, at least one of the following:
1) hydraulic rams;
2) frame pullers; or
3) power shears.

EX3 – Minimum of cumulative 2 years work experience within the last 5 years in metal fabrication, repairs and modifications on:
1) vehicles; and
2) equipment such as front end loaders, excavators, or snow moving equipment.

EX4 – Experience in cutting and gouging processes.

EX5 – Experience in completing serviceability inspections.

EX6 – Experience in completing repair estimates.

Abilities & Skills:

A1 – Ability to weld to CSA Standards W47.1 and W59 or Military Standards D04 for processes to include oxyacetylene, GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Asset Qualifications - Experience:

AQ1 – Experience in manufacturing/repairing fiberglass components.
AQ2 – Experience in repairing military pattern vehicles.
AQ3 – Experience in Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
AQ4 – Experience in auto body repairs.
AQ5 – Experience with computer programs including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
AQ6 – Experience preparing reports and returns.
AQ7 – Experience with applying filler materials and plastics for the purpose of rebuilding to original specifications for refinishing.
AQ8 – Experience working in teams.
AQ9 – Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate
AQ10 – Experience in applying primer, top coat and base coat finishes.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Possession of a valid unrestricted Driver’s Licence from the province of Ontario or other provincial, territorial or Canadian Forces equivalent
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driver’s license
• Willing and able to wear or utilize all required personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hearing and eye protection on a daily basis
• Willing and able to effectively work on their own
• Willing and able to work overtime as required, possibly on short notice.
• Willing and able to perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 20kg on regular basis.
• Willing and able to crawl, crouch, stoop, climb and bend on a daily basis for an extended period of time when installing and adjusting body components and related items.
• Willing and able to lift and assemble large heavy repair parts and materials daily, several hours a day.
• Willing and able to work while standing in awkward positions, pulling and twisting when removing sections of existing components, requires constant balance frequently for short periods of time.
