Intent of the process

The intent of the selection process is to staff two (2) indeterminate English Essential positions with a Top Secret security clearance. These positions are located at 155 McArthur Avenue, Ottawa, ON.

A pool of qualified candidates could be established and could also be used to staff similar positions of varying tenures, of varying linguistic profiles within the RCMP in the National Capital Region.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment prior to May 21, 2020 (deeming date), the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Furthermore, CM staffing transactions resulting from this process will be administered in accordance with the Onboarding Transition Phase until deeming day.

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Completion of a University Degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology Degree in networking
OR
Successful completion of 2 years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed

Degree equivalency

Experience in installing, configuring and maintaining IT software products such as security and server software as well as open source and ethical hacking tools

Experience writing software tools in high level programing/scripting languages such as: Python, Powershell, and Linux Shell

Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows or Linux services on virtualized or physical infrastructures

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience with legal authorizations such as Transmission Data Recorder (TDR) warrants, General Warrants or Part VI authorizations

Network security/penetration testing related certification(s) such as Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Offensive Security Wireless Professional (OSWP), Offensive Security Certified Expert (OSCE) and Security Essentials Certification (GIAC-GSEC)

Knowledge of configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals

Experience administering, configuring and troubleshooting at least 3 out of the following 5 technologies: routers, managed switches, VPNs, firewalls and proxies

Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Linux servers, both virtual and physical using only the command line

Experience in offensive security techniques such as penetration testing, malware analysis and web exploits

Experience in object oriented languages such as Java or C++

Experience analysing / adjusting to different source codes in different languages

Experience in web development and identifying vulnerabilities in Web applications

Candidates selected for appointment will have to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance. This process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
