Assessment accommodation

Only applications submitted via this portal will be accepted. Applicants are not required to submit a cover letter. Instead, they are required to answer screening questions and provide the requested information through the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) online portal. It is your responsibility, as a candidate, to clearly demonstrate how/if you meet each qualification (education and experience) assessed using the screening questions in the online application. When providing your answers, it is not sufficient to simply state that the essential and asset qualifications are "met" or provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill positions in Edmonton, Ottawa and Kingston with various language requirements and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future appointments in various locations across Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDU1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in nursing with a specialization in mental health, social work, psychology or some other clinical specialty relevant to the positions in the group.

NOTE: Candidates must always have a post-secondary institution degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

E1. Experience in professional work with military mental health and operational stress injury best practices in the areas of prevention and treatment.
E2. Experience delivering mental health prevention education programs.
E3.Experience developing and maintaining networks within military communities or health care systems.
E4. Experience working in a multidisciplinary mental health collaborative practice environment.
E5. Experience in applying principles, methods and techniques of adult education in the areas of mental health prevention.

Information on language requirements

K1.Knowledge of mental health conditions within a military context.
K2.Knowledge of health promotion concepts and principles, and their application to mental health awareness and prevention programming.
K3. Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of facilitating and communicating to effectively interact with a wide variety of audiences.

A1. Ability to deliver psycho-educational material and training.
A2. Ability to research, critically analyze, interpret and evaluate scientific data on mental health approaches/techniques for addressing awareness and prevention of mental illness.
A3. Ability to organize and conduct small and large group learning events.
A4: Ability to communicate effectively orally
A5. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
A6. Ability to actively listen, observe and interpret when listening to conversations, either in person or over the phone.

AEDU1. Master’s degree in nursing sciences, social work or a related mental health field.

AK1.Knowledge of the organizational structure and service delivery mandate of the Canadian Forces Health Services.

Occasional overtime and working over the weekend on short notice.
