Stream 1 - Technology-as-target : criminal offences targeting computers and other information technologies, such as those involving the unauthorized use of computers or mischief in relation to data.
These resources are for the Cybercrime Investigative Teams (CIT) in Milton and Montreal. The CITs investigate criminal activity involving compromise of computers/networks, malware developers and distributors, and cybercrime infrastructure developers and operators that facilitate cybercrime (e.g. Denial of Service, botnets).
Stream 2 - Technology-as-instrument (Cyber enabled): criminal offences where the Internet and information technologies are instrumental in the commission of a crime, such as those involving online fraud, identity theft, intellectual property infringements, money laundering, drug trafficking, human trafficking or organized crime activities.
The cybercrime capability specialists (CCS) will be integrated into complex national security, serious and organized crime and financial crime investigations that have significant cyber complexities. These resources are for the Federal investigative teams located in Surrey, Calgary, Edmonton, Milton and Montreal.

The immediate need is to staff twelve (12) positions on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles (Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, English/French essential) and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP across Canada on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, assignment, secondment or interchange Canada) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
Stream 1 only:
Significant** experience in computer programming or the administration of servers, networks or workstations.
Recent* and significant** experience working in an information technology field.
Experience in one or more of the following:
- related to IT incident handling and/or
- related to IT security and/or
- related to log analysis to identify security breaches and/or
- related to Internet open source information/intelligence gathering tools
Stream 2 only:
Experience working in and responsible for cyber security incident handling responses (i.e a government or corporate CIRT)
*Recent is defined as within the last two (2) years
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired by performing a variety of functions within the field for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Both Streams:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a related field, such as Computer Science
Both Streams:
Completion of technical certifications (such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA N+, CISSP, MCSE, CCNA, CEH)
Both Streams:
Experience in the administration of network security devices or systems such as firewalls, routers, switches, intrusion detection systems, intrusion preventions systems, or load balancers
Experience working with programming/scripting languages
Experience in the application of cyber incident response best practices and guidelines
