This project involves the development of a validated database of geological faults within the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Provisional faults supplied will be supplied, selected based on previous studies from the literature, other existing published datasets and geological studies using well log cross sections. Additional provisional faults will be determined using geophysical lineaments, primarily from gravity and magnetic data. This set of provisional will be evaluated by examination of available seismic data to a) confirm seismically mappable offsets of seismic horizons (reflections) and b) adjust fault locations as required using seismic control. The database will be exported into a GIS format including metadata such as geographical location, age constraints, type of fault and fault dip.
