Assessment accommodation

The pharmacy assistant position to be filled is only for the Port-Cartier institution. Port-Cartier institution is a maximum security institution for men and is located in Port-Cartier, Quebec. The city of Port-Cartier is located in the Cote-Nord region, near Sept-Iles.

Duties

Pharmacy Assistants are key members of CSC Health Services. They are responsible for providing essential pharmacy services for offenders who are the responsibility of CSC. CSC Health Services provides the same range of pharmacy services that can be found in the community, while specializing in services that match the needs of offenders.

With an overall objective of improving the status of Canada's federal inmate population, CSC Pharmacy Assistants work closely with other members of the health care team (nurses, physicians, psychiatrists) to ensure appropriate review and follow-up of pharmaceutical care strategies.

Your work as a Pharmacy Assistant with CSC will support public safety by helping offenders reintegrate into the community after receiving professional treatment appropriate for their health needs.

Intent of the process

The intention is to staff one (1) permanent Pharmacist Assistant position, EG02, in Port-Cartier with a French linguistic profile. This process could be used to staff Pharmacy Assistant positions with different length and linguistic profiles in Port-Cartier only.

EDUCATION

- Pharmacy technician college diploma or pharmacy technician vocational diploma

OR

-Considerable experience equivalent to 3 years of full time work offering technical services in a hospital, community or institutional pharmacy.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

-Considerable experience equivalent to about 1 year full time work offering technical services in a hospital, community or institutional pharmacy.

KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge of current medication including narcotics and controlled drugs regarding their names, indications and usual dosages.
-Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
-Knowledge of pharmaceutical procedures, purchasing pharmaceuticals and stock management.

ABILITIES

-Ability to prepare exactly presciptions.
-Ability to organize and respect priorities.
-Ability to communicate effectively orally.
