The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff current and future indeterminate and temporary vacancies for similar positions.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma OR employer-approved alternatives
Alternatives:
1. A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; OR
2. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
EXPERIENCE
Experience in accounting operations such as auditing, accounts receivable or accounts payable
Experience in using computers and software including a computerized financial system, word processing and spreadsheet programs
ASSET EDUCATION
Successful completion of one post-secondary accounting course

ASSET EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics; OR possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics
ASSET EXPERIENCE
Significant experience (at least 1 year) in accounting operations such as auditing, accounts receivable or accounts payable
Experience using an inmate accounting system
Experience in working within a correctional facility/institutional setting

We may assess the essential and asset qualifications using interviews, written tests (take home assignments or other), references or a combination of these or other assessment methods. Other sources of information (such as performance agreements, work samples, board member knowledge, etc.) may be used to inform the assessment of the criteria identified on the Statement of Merit Criteria.
Assessments are expected to take place electronically/virtually.
Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language(s) of their choice.
A top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
For this selection process, our intention is to communicate with the candidates by email. Candidates who apply to this selection process must include in their application a valid email address and make sure that this address is functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email). If you do not wish to receive your results by email, it is your responsibility to inform us.
All information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, will be used to evaluate the candidates.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
