Some of the key activities of this position:
-Provide support to the planning, development and implementation of economic development strategies, programs and initiatives in Saskatchewan;
-Represent the interests of WD in relationships with other federal and provincial government departments, as well as other stakeholders in economic development;
-Assist in the development, assessment, analysis and evaluation of proposals;
-Ensure the terms of the contractual agreement are respected and project outcomes are reported to Canadians, and
-Review reports of third parties who are implementing economic development projects funded by WD.

WD has four regional offices, one Ottawa office and our head office is in Edmonton. The regional office for Saskatchewan is based in Saskatoon with sit stand desks, collaborative spaces and natural light. It is close to transit, the river, restaurants and shopping.
This is an anticipatory process which may be used to staff various tenures, including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, and acting appointments.

Education:
-Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in commerce, business, economics, public administration or other specialization relevant to the position, OR eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
Experience:
-Experience in assessing and negotiating complex proposals such as business or project plans and
applications for funding, including budgets, activities, expected results.
-Experience in administering and monitoring project activities and financials and ensuring the terms of the
contractual agreement are respected and followed.
-Experience in briefing and providing strategic advice to senior management.
Knowledge:
-Knowledge of current issues that impact economic development and diversification in the West, with a
particular emphasis on Saskatchewan.
-Knowledge of the role and relationship among federal, provincial and non-governmental organizations in
economic development.
-Knowledge of key economic sectors and their impact to the western and Canadian economy.

Asset Qualifications:
-Graduation with a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
-Experience in analyzing financial statements to inform recommendations.
Operational Requirements:
-Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and overtime, as required;
-Ability and willingness to travel
-Valid driver’s license
