We are recruiting experienced Nurse Practitioners to fill various positions available in remote and/or isolated First Nations communities in Ontario and Manitoba; and Alberta.

We offer:

Nurse practitioners are paid a base salary at the NU-CHN-04 level $82,938 - $96,659. In addition, you may also qualify for these allowances:
• Education Allowance: $3, 300 for Bachelor’s nursing degree OR $3,850 for a Master's degree
• Nurse Practitioner Allowance: up to $18,000 per year for designated nurse practitioner positions
• Recruitment Allowance: up to $5,500 is paid to nurses working full time (one time allowance)
• Retention Allowance: up to $5,500 per year is paid after nurses have worked 12 months (annual allowance)
• Isolated Post Allowance: monetary allowance to alleviate the cost of living (the more isolated the community, the higher the allowance
Based on the salary ranges and applicable allowances above, the approximate salary range for a full-time, permanent Nurse Practitioners with a Master’s degree in nursing working in a remote/isolated post (excluding IPA): $110,288 – $124,009

Duties

Nurse Practitioners deliver comprehensive and community health nursing services to remote and/or isolated First Nations communities within Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta. They provide in-depth nursing knowledge, skills, clinical expertise and advanced judgment through consultation, clinical practice, leadership, and facilitate knowledge transfer through health promotion and disease prevention.

EDUCATION

NURSE PRACTITIONER: Graduation with a Master’s degree in Nursing from a recognized post-secondary institution* or graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution* in Nurse Practitioner Program with successful completion of approved training in Primary Care, All Ages specialization or some other specialty relevant to the position.

*Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Recent* is defined as within the last five years.
Significant** is defined as at least two years' experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations in one or more of the following areas:

1. Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
2. Primary Care
3. Urgent or Emergency Care
4. Acute or Intensive Care

c) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: a valid Category 1 medical clearance for their dependent(s) in accordance with section 4.2 of the Isolated Post and Government Housing Directive (https://www.njc-cnm.gc.ca/directive/d4/en).

d) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: consent to their dependent(s) to undertake a Category1 periodic health evaluation in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=12561).

- Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas;

- Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment;

- May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required;

- Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required; and

- Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position.

Nurse Practitioners must have current valid registration as a Registered Nurse in the extended class, and a member in good standing in the province where the position is located.
