The positions we are looking to fill are:
- Engineering Technologist (Stream 1)
- Technical Maintenance Planner Coordinator (Stream 2)
This selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Victoria, BC. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis.

Education
Stream 1
• Graduation with a diploma or degree in engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Eligible for registration as an AScT or P.Eng in British Columbia
Stream 2
• Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or possession of a Red Seal trade certificate
Experience
All Streams
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in the field respective of education.
• Experience in project planning and coordination
• Experience engaging with numerous stakeholders to advance a project
Stream 1
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD to prepare engineering drawing packages.

Asset Education
• Graduation with a diploma (minimum two years) in Geographic Information Systems from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Asset Experience
• Minimum of three years’ experience within the last five years in manipulating, processing, and analyzing geospatial data using ArcGIS and ArcSDE
• Experience in surveying and preparing layouts
• Experience collaborating with engineers in the creation of drawing / work packages
• Experience in planning, hiring consultants, managing contracts, and monitoring contractors
• Experience working on projects involving Indigenous peoples of Canada
• Experience in the design and inspection of communications towers and or equipment
• Experience in the design, inspection and maintenance of fire suppression systems
• Experience with the design, installation and maintenance of remote power generation equipment
• Experience in the design, installation and maintenance of control and monitoring systems
Asset Abilities
• Ability to analyze information from various sources and incorporate into a productive work plan.
• Ability to use AutoCAD effectively
• Reliability Status security clearance
• Valid Health Canada Medical
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
• Willing and able to work weekends/overtime and travel on short notice
• Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea
• Willing and able to travel for up to three week periods of time to remote sites via trucks, boats and aircraft
• Willing and able to work at heights in excess of 2.4m
