Why Choose Health Canada?
We don’t want to brag but we are pretty cool. Find out some of the reasons why here: https://reviews.canadastop100.com/top-employer-health-canada/
What Does Health Canada do?
In short, Health Canada is the federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health. Our website has a wealth of information for your reading pleasure. Don’t stress, there will not be a quiz on this.
Now let us start you on that journey – the who, what, where, why and how
WHO? You of course, yes you! Thank you for considering a career at Health Canada. We hope to impress you enough that you click on the “Apply online” button and show us what you’ve got!
WHAT? Unilingual and bilingual Senior Human Resources (HR) Assistants. You will be coordinating and providing administrative and program support to HR programs in the areas of Staffing, Labour Relations and Classification. You will be preparing, reviewing and processing supporting documents related to one or more of the HR program areas. You will also maintain and update HR management Information Systems and ensure data integrity and quality. So if you’ve ever wondered how staffing processes work in the Canadian Federal Government, here’s your chance to not only to see the hows, but to be an integral part of it all. You will be the HR Advisors’ right hand!
WHERE? Ah the possibilities. Friendly Halifax, culturally diverse Winnipeg, trendy Toronto, multicultural Montreal, vibrant Vancouver, welcoming Edmonton or in the heart of the Nation’s Capital, Ottawa.
WHY? This is the foot-in-the-door opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Come in as sought after HR Assistant and stay or move up the Health Canada ladder. For example, some of our HR Assistants have been with us for years while others (with qualifying degrees) have moved on to become HR Advisors, both of whom we value and appreciate equally. Your career path is yours to create. Whether you are looking for a change now or in the future, we encourage you to apply and look forward to having you join our team.
HOW?
STEP 1: Take the time to read the advertisement in its entirety from start to finish. Now read it again. Skimming through the advertisement means that you WILL miss important information.
STEP 2: Do you have what it takes? Prepare your résumé. Ensure that the essential education and experience we are asking for is reflected in your résumé.
STEP 3: Click on the “Apply online” button. Carefully read the questions and provide complete answers. Tell us how, when and where you obtained the education and experience we are asking for. If you do not tell us, we cannot guess (nor will we ask), which means we will have to say goodbye and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.
HINT: Indicate the month and year during which you obtained an education/experience criteria. Example: Use November 2018 to November 2019. Do not use 2018 to 2019 because to us that could mean one day, 12 months or anything in between. So if we have to guess, well, you know.
ANOTHER HINT: Pay careful attention to word counts where asked. Example: For this process, you will be asked to answer one written question using 300-500 words and complete sentences as part of your application. Your response will be used to evaluate not only the “Respectful of Diversity” criteria but also your “Ability to Communicate Effectively in Writing”. We need a sufficient amount of text to determine if you meet these criteria. Anything under what we are asking simply won’t cut it.
STEP 4: Prepare yourself for the assessment phase. You will be asked for your proof of citizenship and proof of education. If you do not have them, now is that time to start looking for them.
Did we miss something? You have questions, we have answers. Shoot us an email, we will respond.
This collective staffing process will be used to fill immediate and future vacancies. Once the immediate vacancies have been filled, applicants who meet the essential qualifications will be contacted as positions become available.
Interviews for this process will be completed via pre-recorded video interviews. If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to record your responses to interview questions using your computer or mobile device. More information on the video interview process will be sent to you at that time.
