Provides statistical and qualitative analysis, database management, data product development, projects management or report preparation services, to support the research or analysis and assessment of policies, programs or legislation/ regulations and the identification of options.
A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created. Each Departments listed above will contact the candidates who fit with the appropriate profile to proceed with the subsequent evaluation phases. Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Note:
Candidates must have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
• Relevant experience* in research and analysis in one or all the following areas:
- Governance or socio-economic development issues related to Indigenous Peoples in Canada or elsewhere in the world;
- Assessment of the social, economic, environmental and health impacts related to major economic development projects, particularly in relation to the exploitation of natural resources and the construction of infrastructure;
- Protection or sustainable management of natural resources or ecosystems, particularly aquatic ones.
- Analysis of the social, economical and environmental aspects related to forest management and sustainable forest management.
• Relevant public policy experience**.
❗ Note:
*Experience will be assessed with a portfolio. The candidate must submit along with his application a maximum of three documents of which he is the main author and which demonstrate relevant experience in the fields mentioned. The portfolio can include publications in peer-reviewed journals, research notes or reports, or academic work (essays, chapters from a research paper or a thesis, etc.). Contributions will be assessed in light of the breadth of knowledge they show, their originality, their methodological rigour and the clarity of the arguments. ** Experience may have been acquired through research, program or policy development and implementation, or work performed in non-government organizations, volunteer organizations, public administrations, and businesses, consulting firms, think tanks or educational institutions.
Education:
Post graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (Master or doctorate).
Experience:
• Experience in research and analysis using quantitative methods and statistical analysis software (STATA, SPSS, R).
• Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with several government and non-government partners, such as Indigenous Peoples.
• Experience in writing documents, such as briefing notes, reports or management documents to inform decision-making.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in research and analysis using qualitative methods in social sciences and content analysis software (N’vivo, etc.).
