Due to the nature of the work and location of the detachment, the hiring manager has requested that all of the interviews take place in person at the detachment. Please be advised that if you are unable to attend an exam and/or interview in person then you may be eliminated from the process.
Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.
This process will initially be used to staff one full-time position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates.
Please note this process will only be used to staff positions in Whitecourt, Alberta. Applicants are encouraged to apply only if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Whitecourt, Alberta.
This pool of qualified candidates may be used to future staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.
The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are: A satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.
Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
Experience providing services to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of secondary school education.
Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement, judicial or quasi-judicial environment.
Experience providing financial support services. (Services may include, but are not limited to, verifying and correcting financial claims, controlling and monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.)
Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Information Retrieval Systems (PIRS), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) or Criminal Justice Information Management (CJIM).
Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation.

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc. Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
