Assessment accommodation

This process is being carried out in conjunction with external selection process 2019-CSD-EA-AB-15635. The same assessment tools will be used for both processes. Should you apply on both, you will only be assessed once and the assessment results will be applied to both processes.

Duties

Performs clerical services in support of the delivery of the department's programs and services to clients in the Pensions mailroom and file management areas. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Sorting and filing documents
• Lifting and moving boxes
• Receiving, screening, classifying, sorting and/or registering initial mail/client information for various departmental programs and services within prescribed procedures and requirements
• Verifying and authenticating client information
• Screening observations from computer-based data/match programs to determine if case can be put in order or directed to appropriate level for further review
• Maintaining and updating databases and tracking systems: working files, statistical records, reports and correspondence
• Obtaining, inputting, maintaining and extracting data and documentation related to applications and claims
• Operating various types of office equipment e.g. postage meters, high-speed printers

Physical Effort and Repetitive Movements are required:
• When filing documents, lifting and moving boxes (e.g. lifting weights of up to 23kg); and/or
• When sitting for long periods of time while keyboarding, inputting data, preparing letters, e-mails and forms, reviewing documents, stapling or attending meetings.

Work environment

A high-volume client service environment providing support in mailroom, work distribution and file management areas; including office and warehouse environments.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates at the CR03 (Support Clerk) level to staff positions within Benefits Delivery Services Branch in Winnipeg, MB. This pool could also be used to staff similar positions of various tenures within Employment and Social Development Canada in Winnipeg, MB.

Initially a random selection among applications will be made. Randomly selected applicants will be assessed and those who meet all the essential qualifications will be placed in the qualified pool. Subsequent random selections may be made from the remaining applications and assessments may be conducted at a later date, and qualified candidates will be added to the same pool to fill future vacancies.

Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are able to relocate to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A covering letter in 400 words (maximum) "Applicants must include a cover letter (minimum of 250 words to a maximum of 400 words). Must-have qualifications:

Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience)

Note: You will be required to provide proof of education by providing a copy and/or showing the assessment team a copy of your High School Diploma or an official transcript (signed and dated) which clearly indicates the highest secondary school grade successfully completed. If you have completed post- secondary education, such as a degree or diploma, from a recognized post- secondary institution, then proof of completion may also be accepted as proof of education in lieu of a copy of your high school diploma. If the name on your education credentials is different from the name on your application, we will require proof that you are the same person.
