Intent of the process

This selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Prince Rupert, BC. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis.

This is what you need to have to be considered for possible job opportunities:

Successful completion of the Canadian Coast Guard Ridged Hull Inflatable Operators Training (RHIOT) or 60 Tonne Master Limited certification.

Experience in general/semi-skilled construction and maintenance of equipment.

Forklift Operator’s Certification

Experience in field or remote site operations.

Experience in the construction, modification, maintenance, repair, or life cycle management of CCG Aids to Navigation, associated facilities or assets.

Experience in working with helicopters.

Experience with working at height.

Experience working in the Pacific marine environment and basic seamanship.

Domestic travel using various means of transportation such as ships, boats, planes, and helicopters, often on short notice.

Ability and willingness to conduct site visits, involving walking over rough terrain and/or climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, or other structures.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Valid Health Canada Medical
• Willing and able to travel for up to 3 week periods of time to remote sites via trucks, boats and aircraft
• Willing and able to work weekends, overtime and travel on short notice
• Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work outdoors in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m
