Duties

Information Management (IM) Analysts support the delivery of IM products and services to employees across the Department, assisting business clients to integrate information management practices into their business processes.

As an IM Analyst you will be primarily responsible for but not limited to the following:

- Meeting with client groups on a regular basis to discuss their information requirements
- Analyze documents and requirements and recommend solutions
- Design solutions based on approved guidelines while also taking into account client requirements
- Educate client groups on related departmental policies
- Provide coaching/training to client groups
- Provide presentations to client groups
- Contribute to the development of training and reference material (e.g. how to guides, videos, or reference guides)

Intent of the process

This process may be used to establish a pool of candidates that may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various official language proficiencies, various security profiles, various tenures (Indeterminate, Temporary) using various staffing mechanisms at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. If a pool is established following this staffing process, all federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) will be able to use it in order to staff similar positions across Canada.

ED1. Successful completion of a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Information Management or in a field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable* combination of education, training, and progressively responsible professional work experience.

*An acceptable combination is defined as a secondary school diploma and three (3) years of relevant progressively responsible professional work experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EXP1. Experience assessing information management client requirements and proposing options and recommending solutions.

EXP2. Experience contributing to the development of operational policies, procedures, or guidelines.

EXP3. Experience interpreting and administering Information Management (IM) related policies and directives.

EXP4. Experience working with an Electronic Document Management System (EDRMS) as an information management practitioner.

KNOWLEDGE
K1. Knowledge of information management theories, principles, best practices and trends.

Depending on the position being staff, we might have positions with various language requirements, such as: English OR French Essential, English Essential, French Essential, or Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB)

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - STEP 5 of the assessment process - SECURITY CLEARANCE

The hiring department is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process.

Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must provide residence information for the last five (5) years and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you
must provide residence information for the last ten (10) years.

The process may involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, credit checks (if required), and fingerprints.
