EDUCATION:
- Occupational certification Level 1 Water Treatment Plant Operator issued under the Atlantic Canada Water and Wastewater Voluntary Certification Program (ACWWVCP) or Provincial Equivalent certification from another province.
OR
- Water Fuels and Environmental Technician QL5A Qualification.
EXPERIENCE:
- *Acceptable experience in all aspects of Water Treatment Plant operation including the repair and preventative maintenance of all plant specific equipment as well as process control and chlorine gas handling.
- Experience with microbiology and safe laboratory procedures applying to Water Treatment Plant operations.
- Experience in basic computer programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook).
*Acceptable experience is defined as experience gained working in a level 2 or higher WTP for at least 1 year or more.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Confined Space Training
- Fall Arrest Training
- Formal training in proper laboratory testing procedures
- WHMIS Certified
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience ordering and disposing of hazardous material.
- Experience working with the Hazardous Material Reference Application program.
- Experience conducting inspections of fall arrest equipment such as ladders and harnesses.
- Experience issuing and verifying the distribution accounts.
- Experience performing minor operator maintenance on material handling equipment and driving vehicles such as vans, trucks, and forklifts.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Possession of a Province of New Brunswick Class 5 Drivers License or provincial/Territorial equivalency.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driving permit.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime and shift work.
- Mobility related to climbing ladders and confined space entry.
- Must be capable of heavy lifting.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be able and willing to wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Must have a pre-approved Health Canada medical assessment to indicate fitness and ability to wear and work in a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Water Fuels and Environmental Technician QL5A applicants must achieve level 1 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification from the Province of New Brunswick within 18 months of accepting position.
- All applicants must achieve level 2 certification within two (2) calendar years of level 1 certification or of accepting the position if already level 1 qualified.
- All applicants must achieve level 3 certification within four (4) calendar years of level 2 certification or of accepting the position if already level 2 qualified.
- Must achieve Swimming Pool Operator Certification within 18 months of accepting the position.
