The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Dartmouth, NS. Only those candidates interested in Dartmouth, NS will be fully assessed at this time. Candidates interested in other locations will only be partially assessed. Should similar positions become vacant in other CHS locations within Fisheries and Oceans Canada, partially assessed candidates may be considered.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in land survey theory and practice, or related fields, OR;
Occupational Certification: Eligibility for a Land Surveyor Commission in Canada.
Experience:
Experience successfully managing projects and reporting on activities in hydrography or related fields.
Experience successfully fostering innovation in the workplace.
Experience in managing human and financial resources.
Experience in providing advice to middle and senior management (Manager level and above) on a wide range of issues including general project and program delivery, and human resources.
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders in the context of project and program delivery.
Experience:
Experience briefing middle and senior management (Manager level and above).
Experience utilizing supply arrangements or acquisition of services through the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
Experience in one or more of the fields of marine sciences, particularly hydrography: data acquisition, data transformation, multi-disciplinary data assimilation, hydrographic research or technical support for hydrographic systems.
Experience in the preparation and submission of proposals that contain financial information such as project approval documents, memoranda of understanding or joint project agreements.
Experience in developing policies and strategies for the
advancement of a geospatial information program.
Experience in operating within an ISO quality management system.

Knowledge of the science of hydrography and how it relates to associated disciplines including stakeholders.
Knowledge of methodologies for development, assessment and implementation of hydrographic processes.
Knowledge of the legal regime of the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS).
Knowledge of the quality management system of the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS).
