Assessment accommodation

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) indeterminate position as a Weapon Technician and one (1) indeterminate position for OJT(On-job-training) Weapon Technician Instructor.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term, or indeterminate positions in the Fredericton/Oromocto/Gagetown area with various linguistic profiles and different security requirements.

• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATION CERTIFICATION:

•Weapons Technician Trade Certificate to Development Period 2 (known as QL5) or higher.

EXPERIENCE:

•Experience in weapons repair involves the inspection, calibration, repair and maintenance of all army weapons and firearms.
•Experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical or hydraulic equipment.

Various language requirements
English or French essential for the position of Weapon Technician.
Bilingual BBB/BBB for the position of OJT Weapon Technician Instructor.

OCCUPATION CERTIFICATION:
(OJT WT Instructor Only)
•Primary Leadership Qualification (PLQ).

ABILITY:

•Ability to interpret written instructions, technical drawings, blueprints or technical publications
•Ability to work in small groups

•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

CERTIFICATION:

•DND Occupational Specialty Qualification related to Weapons Technician Trade
•Developmental Period 3 (DP3) (OJT WT Instructor only)

•Experience with the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).
•Experience in the use of an engraving machine
•Experience as Gun Assembler or Firearms Inspector or Small Arms Tester or Gunsmith or Locksmith

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

•Must hold and retain a valid provincial driver’s license
•Must be able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 Driver/Operator Permit
•Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
•Must be able to safely lift large items up to 23kg/50lbs.
