WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING - Overseeing certification programs by:
• Attending concept briefings on new aeronautical products
• Supporting the approval of applicant means of compliance
• Working with industry engineers throughout the development cycle
• Preparing for and attending certification audits and technical reviews in Canada and abroad
• Coordinating with all areas of expertise involved in the certification of aeronautical products
• Interacting with foreign certification authorities
• Validating foreign aeronautical products

The intent of this process is to create an inventory for future vacancies.
A pool of candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles (English or Bilingual Imperative BBB), with various tenures (term, indeterminate) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed at Transport Canada.

EDUCATION
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post –secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Six or more years of progressively increasing responsibilities in engineering related to the design, implementation and verification of safety critical embedded software or safety critical embedded electronic hardware.
EX2: Two or more years of progressively increasing responsibilities in engineering related to auditing airborne software or airborne electronic hardware processes for conformance to civil aviation design assurance standards (RTCA DO-178B/C or RTCA DO-254).
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS (not required to be considered for the position)
EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience in performing aircraft System Safety Assessment. (SSA)

SECURITY
Various Requirements - Reliability and Secret security clearance. Most positions require a Secret security clearance. This factor is not used at the preselection stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.
