Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position in Kamloops, BC and one position in Victoria, BC on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in Surrey, BC, Kamloops, BC, Victoria, BC, Prince George, BC, Summerland, BC and Whitehorse, YT on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Secondary School Diploma or employer approved alternatives

Degree equivalency

Experience assisting individuals in a client service environment
Experience conducting research and analyses
Experience using a variety of software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in dealing with courts and court officials or providing court testimony

Experience handling, using or identifying firearms

Fluency in a South Asian, Asian or Persian language or any language other than English or French

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security

Successful completion of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course.
Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Must work overtime and variable hours as required.
Must travel to and work in remote, rugged terrain and other locations as required.
Must handle firearms, as required, throughout their time in the position.
Must lift and carry up to 25 kg (+55 pounds), as required, throughout their time in the position.
Must work in an environment that involves possible exposure to unsettling and/or graphic police files.

Tests

PSEE - Test of Judgement UIT

Applicants must complete the Public Service Entrance Exam: Test of Judgement Unsupervised Internet Test as part of the screening for this selection process. This test assesses the judgement required for solving problems in work-related situations. You will have 75 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.
