Duties

Delivery of specialized technical support services for the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and use of building facilities, as well as project management support for construction/maintenance projects and architecture, interior design or engineering activities and for the implementation of various technical services programs in Correctional Service Canada (CSC) facilities.

Work environment

The Technical Services, Quebec Region, of Correctional Service Canada is a stimulating and dynamic environment mission is to ensure the operation, compliance and sustainability of a real estate portfolio of more than $ 8 billion dollars in an operational environment. We are responsible for institutions and penitentiary clusters as well as parole offices and community correctional centers located throughout Quebec. The facilities we manage are diverse such as buildings and structures, building mechanics systems, electrical distribution networks, infrastructures, generators, oil tanks, thermal power stations, water treatment and purification plants, roads, fences and barriers, and automobile fleets to name only those. Depending on the location of your position, you may be required to work in our regional office or in one of our local teams in an institution.

The Correctional Service of Canada is looking for a project officer with strong skills to do a variety of maintenance and construction projects. The primary responsibility is to plan and coordinate construction work in correctional facilities. The person will be working in a multidisciplinary team, including consultants, contractors, technicians, engineers and administrative staff. We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful person with excellent leadership who enjoys daily challenges. Intent of the process

An inventory of qualified candidates will be establish following this process, and will be use to staff similar positions for indeterminate or temporary positions for imminent needs in all institutions within the Correctional Service Canada in the Quebec region. A pool of potential candidate may be selected at any time during the posting period of this process to begin the evaluation of the submitted applications.

Degree from a recognized postsecondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience

Significant experience* managing projects in the building industry.

Experience writing technical documents related to construction.

Experience using computer-aided design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD).

* “Significant experience” refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties for a period of two (2) years.

Education

An engineering degree from a recognized postsecondary institution or an eligibility for a certification as a professional engineer in Canada in an engineering specialty related to the duties of the position.

Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation or another professional designation related to a project management, issued by a recognized institution.

Experience

Experience working in the field of correctional infrastructure.

Experience working on infrastructure projects within a federal government department.
