Duties

-Provide guidance on the staffing process and programs to managers and employees.
-Provides administrative and human resources services in a number of personnel administration disciplines.
-Conducts research of information and prepares a variety of reports and statistics with respect to HR program activities.
-Updates and maintains various databases.

Work environment

The advertised position falls within the Integrated Services Management group in the Corporate Management Branch for the Department of Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada. The Corporate Management Branch (CMB) helps the Department achieve strategic outcomes and priorities while exercising sound stewardship of its resources. This ensures the Department can meet operational requirements and deliver quality programs and services to Canadians. This position is part of the group that provides integrated administrative and facilities management services.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent is to staff one (1) full time position.

In the event that more than one candidate is found qualified, a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, linguistic requirements and security requirements within AAFC.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing support to site managers as it relates to personnel services such as but not limited to, staffing, leave administration, office administration, etc.

Experience in the preparation of a variety of reports, documents, and correspondence for Management.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Various assessment tools may be used, such as, standardized tests, interviews, references, board member knowledge, etc.

Recent and past performance evaluations may be used as part of the assessment. Accordingly, you may be required to submit a copy of your last two Performance Ratings/Evaluations as part of this selection process. Please be prepared to provide such documentation should it be requested from the selection board.

Depending on the number of applicants, volume management strategies such as random selection, top-down approach and/or establishing cut-off scores to determine who will continue in the staffing process, may be used for the purpose of managing applications. Please note that although you may attain the established pass mark on any of the assessments used in this staffing process, management may decide to use a higher cut off score.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
