The biologist will be working with a team led by a Research Scientist conducting research on improving the abiotic stress tolerance in plants. Key activities will include, but not limited to, cloning genes, characterization, functional analysis, organizing and controlling research projects and/or field work under the guidance of the Research Scientist; preparation of project report and manuscript; and assisting the scientist to manage lab activities.
Immediate need: 1 full time temporary position (2.5 years).
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in plant molecular biology, plant molecular genetics, microbiology or a related field.

Experience in planning and executing research activities related to molecular biology or microbiology.
Experience in assembly of large recombinant DNA constructs (> 25 Kb) and its application.
Experience in microbial protein excretory systems.
Experience in confocal microscopy.
Experience in preparing project reports and scientific manuscripts.
Experience working with leguminous plants.
Experience working with Rhizobium.
English essential
