Working within a team environment, the incumbent will provide technical support for research activities in the area of Agronomy and Crop Adaptation. Under the supervision of the Biologist, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting both field and greenhouse trials as well as controlled environmental studies in collaboration with scientists at other AAFC centres, universities, and industry partners. Responsibilities of the incumbent include, but are not limited to, seeding, data collection, plot maintenance and harvest of both field and greenhouse trials.
Immediate need:
- 1 full time permanent position.
- 1 full time seasonal temporary position (May 2020 to November 2023).
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following fields: Biology; Agronomy, General Science; or a related science or agricultural program OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position being staffed.

Experience with agricultural field plot experiments.
Experience assessing, sampling and managing arthropods, weeds and diseases commonly occurring in greenhouse or field plot situations.
Possession of a valid pesticide applicator’s certificate of qualification.
Experience applying pesticides in field crop situations.
