Work environment

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a medium size federal government organization responsible for the prosecution of criminal offenses under federal jurisdiction. Our organization consists of approximately 1000 employees in regional offices across the country who all play a key role in strengthening Canada’s criminal justice system.

As a Legal Assistant at the PPSC, you will be exposed to various areas of criminal law, such as, drug prosecutions, organized crime, and regulatory offences. In the Northern regions, you will have the opportunity to work on files relating to all Criminal Code offenses. In all offices, you will work in dynamic teams consisting of Team Leaders, Counsel, and Paralegals all working towards common goals.

EDUCATION:
Graduation by December 31, 2020, with a college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a law related field.

Degree equivalency

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in the delivery of administrative support services;
• Experience working in a legal environment;
• Experience providing support to counsel;
• Experience working in a northern environment (only for positions in Northwest Territories and Yukon).

How and when will I be assessed?

- You will receive an unsupervised internet test (PSEE UIT 370) at the end of October 2019 to be completed within a five (5) day window.

- If you are successful at the unsupervised test, you will be invited to the supervised in-person test (PSEE 371) that will be administered starting in November 2019.
