The Cereal Quality Lab is located at 1054 and 1056 Pembina Highway,
Winnipeg. It primarily supports AAFC cereal breeders in Western Canada in the
development of germplasm and varieties of cereals that will enhance
competitiveness of the industry. Activities pertain to the analysis and
assessment of a wide variety of cereal grain quality criteria in order to meet
existing and emerging domestic and export needs.
Immediate need: To staff 2 full-time permanent seasonal positions.
Anticipatory: A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar seasonal positions with various tenures.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for cereal chemistry.
Experience in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Ability to perform standard laboratory procedures.
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Agriculture or Science.
Experience working in a cereal quality laboratory.
Ability to operate and maintain cereal quality instruments; specifically: GrainSpec, Falling Number, Mixograph, Brabender Mills, Dickey-john Instalab flour scanners and Farinograph.
Ability to monitor progress of equipment output and to take corrective action when necessary.
