EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in biology.
Note:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for a specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily as part of a degree program in the required specialization.
* Degree: Unless otherwise specified (e.g., master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
EXPERIENCE
E1.Experience conducting or taking part in scientific or conservation projects involving migratory birds. This experience may include, but not be limited to, collecting, analyzing, interpreting and managing data or samples associated with migratory birds.
E2.Experience drafting technical documents, articles or scientific reports.
E3.Significant work experience* in a remote location.
* Significant work experience means a period of many weeks, consecutive or not, in a remote location.
ASSET QUALITIFCATIONS
EDUCATION
AED.Master’s degree or Doctorate from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
AE1.Experience in the aerial tracking of migratory bird populations.
AE2.Experience navigating small vessels.
AE3.Experience in handling firearms or in the sport hunting of migratory birds or other game species.
KNOWLEDGE
AK1.Knowledge of waterfowl.
AK2.Knowledge of seabirds.
AK3.Knowledge of land birds.
AK4.Knowledge of shore birds.
AK5.Knowledge of inland water birds (adreidae, rallidae, sternidae).
ABILITY
AA1.Ability to identify migratory birds of eastern Canada by their call and appearance.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)

K1.Knowledge of the mandates of the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
K2.Knowledge of methods for monitoring populations of migratory birds in Canada.
