The Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) is an institution of higher education offering college and university programs which initially opened its doors in 1952. Located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Qc), this institution offers bilingual programs to officer-cadets destined to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is a medium-sized city located on the outskirts of the Montreal metropolis. Fort Saint-Jean, home or RMC Saint-Jean, is a historic site whose military presence goes back to the French regime. The first fort was built by the Carignan-Salières Regiment in 1666.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff a position of an Appointed Teacher - Engineering Graphics – Physics. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be establish in order to staff similar positions of various tenures within the Department of National Defence.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Hold a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution OR a combination of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least five years of experience in engineering graphics

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Eperience of At least three years of experience in teaching physics and engineering graphics acquired in the last ten years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:

Master’s or doctoral degree in engineering

Degree equivalency

Member of Engineers Canada

Experience:

Experience working in a military environment
Experience working in industry
Experience teaching mechanics at the college or university level
Experience teaching at the college or university level for a minimum of one course and at least three distinct groups in the time period from the Autumn 2017 semester to the Winter 2019 semester inclusively

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the Quebec college-level science curriculum
Expertise in at least one specialized software in engineering graphics (for example SolidWorks)

Competencies:

Ability to teach effectively at the Cégep level (technical drawing and physics)
Ability to produce educational material

Personal Qualities:

Demonstrate integrity and respect
Think things through
Work effectively with others
Show initiative and be action-oriented

Expertise in using 3D printers
Knowledge of the LaTex typesetting language
Knowledge of specialized software (MATLAB, MAPLE, GeoGebra, etc.) and/or programming languages (Python or others)
