Candidates must clearly demonstrate in the screening questionnaire how they meet the education and experience criteria listed in the Essential Qualifications and Asset Qualifications if applicable. The immediate need is to staff four positions on a term (6-12 months) basis, which could potentially lead to an indeterminate appointment, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) or an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in equine husbandry.
- Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of farm and related stable equipment.
- Experience in the basic health and physical care of horses.
- Experience handling stallions.

Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of set up and maintenance of a wide variety of farm machinery and related equipment.
- Knowledge of current agricultural practices related to maintenance of pastures and paddocks.
- Knowledge of basic feeds and nutritional requirements of equines.
ABILITY:
- Ability to identify disease, infection and injury to horses.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

- Basic knowledge of equine reproduction and foaling, including care of brood mares and newborn foals.
Reliability Status security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be available to work 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule that runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Must be willing to work under extreme weather conditions.
- Must be capable of working in an environment that contains a large amount of dust, odours and animals.
- This position is physically demanding and requires heavy lifting (20-40 kgs).
