Lac La Biche has a population of about 15,000 and is located approximately 220 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital of Edmonton, on the southern shore of Lac la Biche. The community is supported by the oil and gas, logging, forestry, agriculture, and commercial fishing. Lac La Biche is home to the Lac La Biche Golf Course, numerous lakes and campgrounds, a large recreation centre including indoor jogging track, and an aquatic centre. The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Lac La Biche, Alberta.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff future indeterminate and /or temporary vacancies in Lac La Biche, AB within the RCMP. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and /or considered: acting appointment, term appointment, assignment or secondment.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
±Proof of education and/or training will be required prior to appointment.
Recent* and significant** experience providing administrative support services*** to a team or a manager.
Experience in using spreadsheet software, an electronic mail system and a word processing system.
Experience in providing service to clients by telephone, in person or in writing.
*Recent experience signifies having performed these duties within the last five years.
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with approximately two years of experience, including a broad range of administrative support services.
***Administrative support services could include duties such as managing someone else’s daily schedule, planning and/or coordinating meetings, preparing and/or coordinating incoming/outgoing correspondence, maintaining electronic and hard copy file systems, taking meeting minutes, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Experience in employee supervision, including tasks such as: assigning work, scheduling, and monitoring performance.
Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, which may include exposure to unsettling and /or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes, using various modes of transportation.
Reliability Status security clearance - NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
