In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Successful completion of a 3 year college program in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent combination of training and experience in quality control, metallurgy and non-destructive testing (NDT).

Certified by NRCan under the Canadian Standards Board Standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712 to level 2 or higher in at least two methods of NDT.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in the hands-on application of non-destructive testing (NDT).

Experience in writing technical procedures.

Experience in organizing and performing the technical portions of inspection programs.

Experience in planning, organizing and carrying out administrative and operational activities.

Information on language requirements

Please note that in order to apply for the EG-06 position you must meet the following education criterion:
Certified by NRCan under the Canadian Standards Board Standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712 to level 2 or higher in at least three methods of NDT; and to level 3 in at least two methods of NDT.

Degree equivalency

Knowledge:
Knowledge of the principles of non-destructive testing.
Knowledge of the industrial practices of non-destructive testing.
Knowledge of physical metallurgy.
Knowledge of metal processing and fabrication methods.
Knowledge of the Canadian National NDT Standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712.
Knowledge of incorporating health and safety procedures in work processes.

Abilities:
Ability to calibrate, operate and maintain NDT equipment.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Experience:
Experience in developing and grading examinations.
Experience with word processing, spread sheets and database software.
Experience performing job cost analysis and establishing and implementing fees for service.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of the NRCan national system for certification of NDT personnel.
Knowledge of the preparation of NDT technical instructions.
Certified by NRCan under the Canadian Standards Board Standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712 to level 2 or higher in additional methods of NDT. (in addition to the certifications counted in Essential Qualifications).
Knowledge of advanced NDT techniques. (such as Phase-Array Ultrasonic Testing, Time of Flight Diffraction, Eddy Current testing Arrays, etc.).
